Manage views - the View Bar

Overview. Views allow you to select the information displayed. The View Bar provides a means to organize views and switch between them easily. This makes it easier to work with complex or multiple projects. The View Bar is simple to use, all operations are available from a right click menu, and additionally items may be dragged from the tree view to the view bar to quickly create new views. The View Bar is shown in the following screen shot.

Hiding the View Bar.
If the View Bar is visible it may be hidden by selecting the View Bar option from the main menu view option. Alternately the Hide View Bar option on the right click menu may be used.

Adding icons to the View Bar. Any  newly created view is added to the View Bar. Views are created in the following ways.

  • By using the New View option on the View Bar right click menu.
  • With the Tools, View menu option.
  • By dragging a folder from the folder view to the view bar.

Changing the details of a view. The view properties dialog is available from the right click menu, right click an icon to access it's properties without activating it. The view properties dialog is described fully in the section customize a view.

 

Working with groups. The View Bar may be organized by using groups. A group is used to hold a set of related views, and is selected by clicking the related group buttons at the top and bottom of the bar. The screen shot above shows a view with the General group active. Groups are added, deleted and renamed using the options on the right click menu. A group is activated (selected) by clicking the related button at the top or bottom of the view bar. Option on the right click menu always relate to the currently selected group.
