Changing settings

Various control settings may be changed on the options panel. This is accessed from the 'Tools' menu, 'Options' selection.

The 'Editors' tab allows file extensions to be associated with editors. In the example below files with the extension alx are associated with the Windows™ notepad utility. Editors added to this list are made available on the right click menu, 'Edit With'  or 'View With' when files with the specified extension are selected.

The communications settings allow the server connection and timeout values to be set.  The values are as follows.

  • Server address. The name by which the server computer (the computer running the CodeMatrix server software) is known on the network. This can be machine name, a host name or an IP address.
  • Server port. The port number used by the CodeMatrix server software.
  • Local port. A port number used by the CodeMatrix client software for local communications. This may be any free port on the user's computer. It should not usually be necessary to change this value.
  • API timeout. The maximum time CodeMatrix requests will wait with no activity before aborting the request.
  • Connection retry max. If the server link fails this setting determines the maximum time between reconnect attempts. An initial retry will be made immediately and with each failure the interval to the next attempt is increases up to this value.

The general settings panel allows the current user to be changed, along with  some miscellaneous server settings.
