Using CXInsight

Use revision labels

Labels are tags which may be assigned to an arbitrary group of file revisions.

Labels are useful for recording the state of the database at a given time, and may be used in the following ways.

  • A branch or workspace may be created from an arbitrary set of file revisions.
  • Files may be regressed to a specified label allowing a recorded state of a workspace to be re-created.
  • A view may be based on a label allowing the user to examine the database in a predefined state.

Note that a label may only be applied to a checked in revision.

Labels are created and applied to file revisions using the label wizard, accessed from the 'New' option on the toolbar. This wizard gives step by step instructions to create a label and optionally apply it to file revisions.

Labels are created in the Admin repository. By selecting a label definition in CXInsight and selecting the 'View' tab a list of file revisions having the label will be shown.
