Managing users and roles

A CodeMatrix user represents a person who uses the system. A role represents a group of users such as a team, department or class of user. A user can be associated with multiple roles. Users and roles are used to track changes, i.e. "who changed what"; in the enterprise edition they are also used for security and task assignment.

New CodeMatrix users are created automatically when a client first connects, using the user id specified during the installation process.

You can use the command lines options user, role and associate to create users and roles and associate roles with users. Users and roles are stored in the Admin repository, and can be organized in subfolders.

CXInsight also supports these operations as described below.

Add a user

Select 'User' from the 'New' drop menu on the toolbar, the following dialog appears;

Specify the name (the login name) and the user's full name. Use the folder browse button to store in a sub folder, and use the role browse and remove buttons to add and remove roles.

Modify a user

Select a user in the CXInsight tree, and 'Modify' from the right click menu. A similar dialog to that above is shown allowing changes to the full name and the roles.

Add a role

Select 'Role' from the 'New' drop menu on the toolbar, the following dialog appears;

Enter a name and description for the role and optionally a folder location.
